Celtic player's late January exit officially announced

Celtic's last summer transfer window could challenge the one from 2020. Very few have had an impact on the first-team. On the other hand, some are already on the way out. Nat Phillips returned to Liverpool when his loan spell came to an end. Kwon Hyeok-kyu joined St Mirren until the end of the campaign. And now, there has been another exit.

Celtic need to strengthen on the flanks last summer, with Jota leaving for Al-Ittihad. One winger they did sign is Marco Tilio.

Tilio was considered one of the brightest talents in Australian football and had even earned comparisons to Phil Foden. But it would be safe to say that things did not go his way at Parkhead.

He had some fitness issues early on in the season. Then he barely featured even when fit. And now, he has departed the club on a temporary basis.

The Australian is heading back to familiar territory. As tweeted by Melbourne City FC, Tilio has returned on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

One would hope that Tilio is able to rediscover his form at Melbourne City FC. It is hard to see how this loan spell helps his future at Celtic though.

Another stint in Australia does not help Tilio adjust to the Scottish game. And one has to wonder if Celtic have already given up on him.

Time shall tell. For now, Celtic have brought in another winger in the form of Nicolas Kuhn. The German has been signed from Rapid Vienna this January for a transfer fee believed to be around £3 million. He has spent time at clubs like Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Ajax in the past. It remains to be seen if he can offer something to the Hoops going forward.
