Pangur Ban Icelandic Sweater **Pattern Available!**

Welcome!

The Pangur Ban Sweater pattern is available for download as a PDF in our Etsy Store (link at the top of the page)! Yay!! I’m so happy to finally release this to you! I really hope it brings you some joy as it has for my sister and I.

The pattern is knit bottom up using Lett-Lopi wool on circular needles. We have several sweaters that will be added to the shop over the coming weeks that we knit in order to accurately write the pattern so stay tuned for when those will be listed!

I’m going to make this short and sweet. I sincerely hope you enjoy the pattern. We wrote it to be as clear as possible, including as much information as possible. It was a lot of hard work but I’m so happy to release this little bird into the world to be free. Now to move on to Folkloric Lopapeysa and then eventually new creative expressions.

Previous entries about the sweater are linked at the end of this post which contain a lot more information about the design process etc. For now, here are a few photographs taken over the years and of course, a song from the Secret of Kells.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Many, many Autumn blessings on you!

  1. Just downloaded the pattern, Julia! Thank you for sharing the song from the Secret of Kells. It is one of my favorite movies. I just recently watched it again from my library. Your photos are gorgeous – the sweater, the landscape – really puts me in the mood for autumn and winter. Today we have some cool winds coming from the North…Canada is blessing us! I have had some trouble with my left thumb, so have not been able to knit since August. πŸ˜” One day when I am able I will cast on for the sweater…already have the Lett Lopi waiting to be used. In the meantime, I will keep my eyes out for when you post the actual sweaters to Etsy…maybe I will be blessed to actually purchase one! (They go SO fast!) Blessed Autumn Equinox and New Moon! πŸŒšπŸ±πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ‘πŸπŸ‚πŸŒΏπŸ’šβ€οΈ

    1. Thanks so much Bonnie for your support!

I’m so sorry to hear about your thumb… I know those troubles all too well and often find the best remedy is to just completely stop for a time everything that strains your thumb or tendons. I wish you a speedy recovery ❀

The sweaters will likely start to be listed this weekend and I may just post 1 a week until they are gone (I have 6!!! The most I’ve ever had of 1 type of sweater). I put a lot of work into packaging and have to make up all the bags to put them in so to give myself a bit of a break, I want to space them rather than do it all at once. I will try to post some blogs before posting the sweaters on instagram so you will have a heads up!

We have a hurricane heading our way this weekend so hoping it just manages to miss us!
