Celtic’s 2-0 victory over Dundee United today means that the Bhoys have now gone five games in a row in all competitions without conceding a goal.

It’s the first time an Ange Postecoglou Celtic team has made it beyond the 450-minute mark without a goal going in, having last conceded in the derby against Rangers at Ibrox.

Previously under Ange, the biggest streak without conceding had been three matches – achieved twice.

The last time Celtic went five or more matches with clean sheets was almost four years ago during Neil Lennon’s initial few months at the club following the exit of Brendan Rodgers.

At Tannadice, Postecoglou highlighted the impressive defensive work of his team, telling Sky Sports in his post-match interview: “All we can do is play the football we need to play to put the result beyond doubt. It’s more than momentum, we want to finish the season stronger than we did the first half of the year.

“We’ve been really good since the break with consistency in our performances. Our results, and our defensive work has been outstanding the last few weeks.

“Our squad is really strong at the moment. We only have Anthony Ralston out injured and he’s back in the next week or so and that tells me we should finish the season strongly and that has got to be our aim.”

Celtic are often highly praised for the attacking side of their game, but praise must also be given to their approach on the other side of the ball – even when missing key talents such as Greg Taylor or Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Becoming defensively resilient as well as lethal in the opposition box would undoubtedly ensure a very pleasing end to the season.
