“The bowler hat was a motif in the musical composition that was Sabina’s life. It returned again and again, each time with a different meaning, and all the meanings flowed through the bowler hat like water through a riverbed."

I arrived to painting in duality, brought about by events that I could not control.

The second everything changes, the search for the meaning of existence is urgent, in an attempt to perceive the imperceptible.

The Emotions, those come out through the skin, searching for a kind of alchemy.

I transmuted them into my visual narratives.

Pain and drama. Hope and overcoming.

In the end Love, always Love.

Mónica Silva (1972), born in Porto, Portugal, lives and works in Vila do Conde.

In her artistic practice, she creates, through painting, introspective feminine worlds, full of symbolism and a little surrealist, in an invitation to the observer to create his own narratives.

Education:  Continuing Education of the University of Fine Arts of Porto (FBAUP), having concluded the Practical Course in Painting it in 2020, and The Human Body in Contemporary Art Course in 2021
