Two road-registerable Gas Gas trials bikes will soon be available in Australia, which can be used across a wide variety of applications – from pure trials to commuting and everything in between.
The Aussie importer of the Spanish marque received full ADR certification in late June 2018 for the Contact 250 and Contact 280, which are six-speed, single-cylinder two-strokes. The bikes have the same frame and engine as Gas Gas’ more competition-focussed machinery such as the TXT range, but have a larger fuel tank as well as an additional seat and electric start.
The 250 produces a claimed 6.2hp (4.6kW), and the 280 7.2hp (5.4kW) – modest figures but they only weigh in at 72kg.
They are expected to be on sale by September/October 2018.
The Contacts will also be come with an off-road kit as standard, containing a free-flowing exhaust, header pipe, larger carburetor, cables, and a flexy rear guard.
Prices are yet to be announced, but expect figures in the $9000 range.
