OMG Alert: Lady Gaga Takes The Big Shoulder Trend To The Next Level

Shoulders have been the hot body part all season long--we've seen 'em emphasized on everyone from Rihanna to the first lady--so it's only natural that Lady Gaga would take the trend and make it 100% her own. Check out the disco diva's best impression of Frankenstein, after the jump.

Lady Gaga was at a Best Buy store in Los Angeles signing copies of her CD and giving a performance yesterday afternoon, wearing this jumpsuit and jacket that would make any linebacker's shoulders look like they really belonged on Malibu Barbie. Girlfriend is packing some serious pads under there--or, as Britain's Daily Mail put it, she's "appearing to have stuffed a mattress up the back of her jacket."

This is one of those times I've gotta believe Gaga's got a sense of humor. It's almost as if she's saying, "hey fashion industry, you want to throw ridiculous trends at us? I'll show you a ridiculous trend!" Those outsize shoulder pads make the ones on the runways at Balmain and Louis Vuitton and Jean Paul Gaultier look like total wusses. What's next, Gaga? Hauling an actual Harley Davidson around on a chain around your neck instead of just wearing motorcycle jackets and boots like those boring fashion masses?

I wonder what Cybill Shepherd would say about these larger-than-life shoulder pads...
