With a number of acts having canceled on the Republican convention due to the coming inclement weather, Jon Voight is making enough noise for a whole bunch of them.
The Oscar winner and recent GOP convert is in Tampa and has quickly made his presence known. On Monday, he accused President Obama of controlling the media, like a certain South American communist strongman.

“The media has been taken over by this administration,” Voight told The Daily Caller. “It’s not less than what has happened in Venezuela with Cesar Chavez, really, because you can’t get the information through. I’m giving you this because I want to get the press my opinion. You can put it in any way you want to. But, it’s become pure propaganda and we should be appalled.”
[Note: Voight mistakenly said Cesar Chavez, when he meant Hugo Chavez.]
The media, he said, is complicit in the operation.
“America, guys, wake up,” he continued. You should be appalled that they can get away with it, that they can attack – the Republican Party is a victim of a bias, of a destructive bias against the Republican Party. It’s been going on for all this time and it’s getting worse and worse. And, now this? Come on, people, stand up.”
Voight, who is Angelina Jolie‘s father, also on Monday accused Hollywood of being brainwashed by liberals. And on Tuesday, he went a step further, not just likening Obama to a communist dictator, but calling him a Marxist.
“Well, his father was a Marxist — of course he was influenced by it,” he told Reveal Politics. “His mother, who led him towards his father’s Marxism – yes. His mentor was a fellow by the name of Frank Marshall Davis, he was a communist. And, of course, his alliances from that time on.”
