Studs were one of the biggest trends of 2012, and they show no sign of retreating in 2013. Topshop sold 200,000 pairs of its £32 Vectra studded slippers, while Zara’s rails are still groaning under the weight of coats with studded arms, parkas with studded shoulders and bags with spikes so violent they look more like weapons than arm candy.

Really, the question we should be asking here isn’t so much, “How many studs can I wear at once without looking like Nicole Scherzinger?” as, “How can I do them sort of tastefully, so that my colleagues don’t laugh behind by back?” I’m not a massive fan of the fetish look.
