She may officially be the Princess of Wales on paper, but Kate Middleton has also snagged the unofficial crown to become the Dancing Queen of the royal family. No, the princess didn’t recently lead any choreographed dance sequences that you somehow missed, but she’s showcased her smooth moves many times over the years.
A new compilation video posted to social media highlights Kate’s royally excellent footwork at appearances over the past several years—a shoulder shimmy here, a little boogie there, a full-on dance with Paddington Bear over yonder. The video is set to The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Mucks,” recently best known for soundtracking a viral dance scene in Netflix’s Wednesday streaming series.
Earlier this year, Kate drew attention for a move that has since been dubbed “the princess shuffle,” a subtle sidestep she frequently executes at photo ops to make sure everyone is positioned in the best possible way for the snap. It’s not a dance move, per se, but what is an official royal appearance if not a carefully choreographed dance? Kate is also on the record as a fan of the reality dance competition show Strictly Come Dancing, the British show that inspired the U.S.’s Dancing with the Stars, and has been spotted getting down to a mean “Hokey Cokey” (that’s Hokey Pokey to Americans) on occasion.
Consider the dance floor royally blessed.
