All our chicken sausage is made locally thanks to Dave Viola of Short Creek Farm in Northwood, NH. We are happy that our sausage can be prepared by the farmers of Short Creek as their pork sausages and charcuterie meats have fantastic flavor. Their spice and ingredient pairing is unparalleled and our chicken sausage is great for the oven, grill or stovetop.

TASTE OUR CHICKEN

Our catering company, Vernon Kitchen, caters all of our on-farm events. The menu featured what’s been raised on pasture. Join us May-October for our outdoor, family-friendly events series.

How we raise our chicken.

Our Cornish cross chicks arrive at the farm on a routine basis from a Pennsylvania hatchery during the pastured poultry season (April-October). Once they get to our farm, they are brooded in our chicken brooding house for 4 weeks before moving outdoors to graze on fresh green grass.

We choose to move our chicks at 4 weeks old because their feathers have fledged and they aren’t quite as delicate to temperature changes and shifts.

Our chicks are fed nonGMO grain and grit.

They are bedded with peat moss in the brooder house. We bulk source our feed and bedding to reduce plastic waste. We also source our feed and bedding from local suppliers.

As the chicks grow on pasture, they are protected in moveable pasture pens. Our pasture pens are moved daily so that chickens can have access to fresh forage while also having access to grain and water.

Our automated watering systems keep their water as sanitary and clean as possible. Automated drip/nipple watering systems also allow for our farm to conserve the amount of water being used to raise healthy chickens.

We enjoy working with Green Mountain Feeds (VT), a family business, because all our custom milled nonGMO feed (mash, crumble, and pellet) is made with high-quality ingredients.

Their product lines are free from pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, hormones, antibiotics, preservatives, GMOs, animal by-products, and animal protein products.

When chickens are 8 weeks old, they are shipped for processing to Goffle Poultry in Wycoff, New Jersey. We enjoy working with Goffle Poultry, as their care of the birds is clean and efficient both pre and post-processing.

PASTURED LIVESTOCK

In addition to chicken, we pasture-raise cows, lambs, and pigs on our land and sell their products year-round at our farm store in Newfields, NH.
