In this new monthly column for Vogue’s jewelry shop, our editors search high and low, deep and far, to report on the internet’s biggest jewelry trends. Consider this your monthly crib sheet so you don’t have to spend hours combing through to find what everyone is obsessing over.

Ah, Paris. The finale of fashion month and the culmination of the trends for the season. Back at Vogue HQ, we’re reviewing our notes and talking with our colleagues to plan out what we will be focused on for fall.

Firework content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

We’re also discussing what will be on our shopping lists (and wish lists…!) As you scroll through the jewelry trend reports from New York, London, Milan, and now Paris, you’ll start to see some overarching ideas come together (more on that for a later date). For now, we’ll focus on the key pieces we spotted on the runways that work for now.

Something For Your Scarf

From left to right: Louis Vuitton, Armando Grillo; Saint Laurent, Armando Grillo; Coperni.

Lapels shouldn’t have all the fun, don’t you think? Finally, scarves are getting a look in. A sweet styling trick at some of the shows incorporated brooches in a new way. The french horns at Louis Vuitton are downright charming, the hand from Coperni a fun—and visual way—to play with the fabric, and the scarf rings at Saint Laurent the chicest cinch out there.

Gucci GG crystal and faux-pearl brooch

Vivenne Westwood Bas Relief brooch

Swarovski Stella set of 3 crystal star brooches

Statement Earrings

From left to right: Balmain, Armando Grillo; Alexander McQueen; AZ Factory, Filippo Fior.

Impactful earrings for pretty much every time of day or night. How maximalist you decide you go is up to you. Graze your shoulders a la Balmain and McQueen, or go gold and bold like AZ Factory.

Alessandra Rich crystal drop earrings

Cult Gaia Susa crystal-embellished tassel earrings

Saint Laurent gold-tone resin clip earrings

Kenneth Jay Lane crystal teardrop clip earrings

Chain Link Short Necklaces

From left to right: Chanel, Armando Grillo; Schiaparelli, Alessandro Viero; Givenchy, Armando Grillo.

Chain link necklaces are a perpetual jewelry trend. Paris runways saw them close to the neck and at varying weights. Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Givenchy used chain link necklaces to enhance necklaces and, in Chanel’s case, allure attention to the neck.

Saint Moran Azlin curb chain collar necklace

Paco Rabanne XL link necklace

Ippolita Bastille mini link necklace

Bottega Veneta sterling silver chain-link necklace

Wide Cuff Bracelets

From left to right: Off-White, Armando Grillo; Saint Laurent, Armando Grillo; Alexander McQueen.

One or two wide cuff bracelets are a modern way to create a simple (not simplistic) and bold look. Cuffs on the runways were high on the texture level. We like these four options for various ways to interpret this trend.

The Jewelry Report: The Four Best Jewelry Trends From Milan Fashion Week

Fashion month is still upon us, and here at Vogue we were simply charmed by the jewels that debuted at Milan Fashion Week. On the runways we saw looks transformed by bold and glamorous accessory choices—promising a big moment for jewelry this upcoming season. As it goes with all trends, we saw the resurgence of tried-and-true styles while also being unexpectedly dazzled by daring, unique ways of revamping your jewelry box.

Bottega Veneta showed us an array of statement collars that instantly elevated ready-to-wear, while Etro was a true ode to vintage-inspired modern heirlooms. Whether in the form of boho beads or an asymmetric earring, designers experimented with vibrant colors and contrasting shapes and textures. While minimalism always works when it comes to accessorizing, the jewelry in Milan took an exceptional, maximalist approach.

Below, we break down our four favorite jewelry trends seen at Milan Fashion Week, with pieces you can shop now. — fashion assistant, Samantha Yorn

Bohemian Beads

From left to right: Roberto Cavalli, Isidore Montag; Etro, Filippo Fior; Disel, Filippo Fior.

A colorful beaded necklace was a timeless choice this season and instantly transported us to warmer days. Roberto Cavalli’s show was full of Western-inspired turquoise pieces, while Etro completely transformed several looks with curated stacks. The more beads, the better!

Lizzie Fortunato The Great Escape Castillo necklace

Jacquie Aiche multi-stone necklace

Anni Lu Pacifico gold-plated brass beaded necklace

Presley Oldham Compost white necklace

Asymmetric Earring

From left to right: Fendi, Danielle Oberrauch; Gucci, Filippo Fior; Tokyo James, Isidore Montag.

In the Vogue office, we are all about the asymmetric earring. Whether opting to sport the single statement strand seen at Tokyo James and Gucci or mix-and-match everyday statement earrings (Fendi approved!), this unique trend will be everywhere this upcoming season.

Sophie Bille Brahe Grand Ruban de Perle gold pearl earrings

Completedworks Glitch gold-plated pearl drop earrings

The Statement Collar

From left to right: Bottega Veneta, Filippo Fior; Dolce & Gabbana, Danielle Oberrauch; Jil Sander, Alessandro Luciano.

The statement collar necklace was the imminent shift away from last year’s choker trend, and it completely dominated Milan Fashion Week. Dolce & Gabbana and Jil Sander did not shy away from the sparkle and glam, while Bottega Veneta had an edgy, distinctive take on the trend.

Ariana Boussard-Reifel Shankha chain necklace

Oscar De La Renta crystal Disco necklace

Saint Laurent square and spikes necklace

Pearl Octopussy Golden Tire gold and silver plated crystal necklace

Chunky Gold Maximalism

From left to right: Etro, Filippo Fior; Moschino, Danielle Oberrauch; Sportmax, Danielle Oberrauch.

Minimalistic jewels will always be chic, but Milan showed us that maximalism is all the rage this season. We’re swapping dainty necklaces for chunky chains and eccentric pendants. Etro charmed and delighted us with vintage-inspired heart pieces, while Moschino went mega with the chain size.

Mondo Mondo gold crystal Tropicana necklace

The Jewelry Report: The Four Best Jewelry Trends From London Fashion Week

The international tour known as fashion month touched down in the U.K. last week, and London Fashion Week certainly did not disappoint. Over here in Vogue’s jewelry department, our eyes were focused on the oft-ignored elements of a fashion show: the baubles. As with the clothes that walked the runway in London, the jewelry trends we noticed were irreverent, unexpected, and updated versions of classic styles we have come to know and love.

The oversized and megawatt jewelry styles of seasons past settled into a more wearable, yet still unique, territory in London. An everyday drop earring here, a unique pearl necklace there. In London, jewelry served as a complement to rather than a distraction from the clothes.

Below, we outline the four standout jewelry trends at London Fashion Week, with pieces that can be yours now. —Charlotte Diamond, associate fashion editor

Everyday Earrings

From left to right: JW Anderson, Filippo Fior; Nensi Dojaka, Isidore Montag; Erdem Isidore Montag.

The statement earrings that formerly dominated the runway have been pared down to everyday drops, often with a texturized or embellished touch. JW Anderson and Nensi Dojaka showed streamlined examples, while the everyday earring got a pearl accent at Erdem.

Yvonne Léon ridged diamond & 9k gold hoop earrings

Sophie Buhai silver everyday boule earrings

Alighieri the celestial raindrop 24k gold-plated earrings

Azlee 18k gold diamond earrings

Charmed, I’m Sure

From left to right: Burberry, Filippo Fior; Chopova Lowena; Erdem, Isidore Montag.

The staid charm bracelets and necklaces of our adolescence are now a force majeure in the jewelry world. One can wear a simple bracelet with a smattering of charms, as we saw at Daniel Lee’s inaugural Burberry show, or if the Chopova Lowena charm necklace is more your style, then a chunky silver chain with funky and cheeky charms will do just fine.

The Updated Pearl

From left to right: Simone Rocha, Isidore Montag; Dilara Findikoglu, Filippo Fior; Erdem, Isidore Montag.

We at Vogue have waxed poetic about pearl jewelry, and if London Fashion Week was any indication, the pearl is truly here to stay. This season, however, the ubiquitous pearl was reworked into dynamic earrings (Simone Rocha ’s take is excellent), and an updated version of Anne Boleyn’s necklace was seen at Dilara Findikoglu.

Mateo 14k yellow gold, baroque pearl & diamond detachable drop earrings

Mejuri gumball pearl ring

Brooch-ing the Subject

From left to right: Simone Rocha, Isidore Montag; Roksanda, Danielle Oberrauch; Nensi Dojaka, Isidore Montag.

You heard it here first: Brooches are having a moment. The classic style that is perhaps best known for gracing the lapels of grandmothers everywhere is quickly becoming the coolest piece of jewelry to have in your repertoire. Pair an antique brooch with a bomber jacket à la Simone Rocha, or use a more modernist piece to pull together a look as we saw at Roksanda.

The Jewelry Report: The Top Four Trends We’re Taking Away From NYFW

New York Fashion Week kicks off a month of successive shows where designers present their collections for the coming season. And with the start of fashion month come the beginnings of trends to track and flesh out. Like some trends (the denim cut du jour instantly comes to mind), styles of jewelry that walked the runways can be emulated almost immediately with what is currently in the market rather than waiting it out until those new pieces end up in stores.

A little update to your jewelry (or digging pieces from deep in your jewelry box) can modernize looks that may have otherwise grown stale or simply boring to their wearer. Sick of wearing a plain knit? Add a long pendant necklace. Worried you took the whole minimalism trend too far? Expand the look with a touch (not too much) of chunky and bold gold.

As New York comes to a close, we’ve identified four jewelry trends that have traction to build and are easy to replicate with pieces available now. —Daisy Shaw-Ellis, jewelry director

Simple Strands of Pearls

From left to right: Marc Jacobs; Ulla Johnson, Filippo Fior; Judy Turner.

There’s a reason they’re passed from generation to generation: They simply do not go out of style. Wear them as an ode to Vivienne Westwood, as Marc Jacobs included them in his show, or as a neat touch of polish à la Judy Turner.

Jennifer Fisher freshwater pearl necklace

Mejuri Essential pearl necklace

Big Pendants

From left to right: Proenza Schoule; LaQuan Smith, Filippo Fior; Michael Kors, Filippo Fior.

Pendant necklaces with heft and purpose showed up at three big New York shows. These pendants are sculptural and, in the case of the layered pair at Proenza Schouler, modernized strung-on cord.

Lisa Eisner Squash Blossom necklace

Yvonne Leon Starfish necklace

Annika Inez glass-pendant silk necklace

Heavy Gold

From left to right: Tory Burch; Khaite; Prabal Gurung, Armando Grillo.

Fashion designers swerve between gold and silver much more often than the more steady gold-favoring jewelry market. This season stick to gold with heavy pieces styled minimally with your look.

By Pariah The Curve gold ring

So-Le Studio Ila leather earrings

Cocktail Sparkle for Any Hour

From left to right: Tory Burch; Carolina Herrera, Armando Grillo; Brandon Maxwell, Filippo Fior.

The sparkles of gemstones and crystals needn’t be kept for evening hours. Designers paired cocktail jewelry with everything from knits to day dresses to gowns this season.

The Jewelry Report: Vivienne Westwood’s Pieces Are Having a Moment

Bella Hadid (Photo: Getty Images)

Dame Vivienne Westwood: the iconoclast, the rebel, the queen of punk, the activist. These are just some of the words used to describe the late and great designer. A shaper of the zeitgeist of a worshiper of youth culture is also true of the Dame because she not only gave us the iconic platform shoes and the boob corset, but she also gave us the pearl orb necklace. It first debuted in the ’80s, and for the next four decades, this necklace has been loved by many from Gen X to Y and now, finally, Z. Type in #viviennewestwoodjewellry into your TikTok search, and you will understand the importance of it—26.5M views is no joke! Whilst over on Instagram, you can catch more love for her pearl necklace.

Vivienne Westwood Bas Relief pearl choker

A little background on the humble orb and pearl combo: Legend has it the original inspiration came from a time when Westwood took a hiatus from her store in London after the final breakup with Malcolm McLaren and she spent some time in Italy. She was working on a royalty theme collection where she imagined what prince (now King) Charles might wear in his spare time, along with all the insignia of Britain à la the orb and the crown. As well as the royals, she was also inspired by astronomy magazines with photos of the galaxy and the planet Saturn and its ring system. So, to funk it up, Westwood added the satellite ring to the orb. It was sent out into the world in the 1987 fall show and has seen many revivals since then.

Why and exactly how does a 40-year-old piece of fashion jewelry manage to keep its spirit going for so long? We have the supermodel and Gen Z superstar influencer Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, and company to thank for this comeback. This obsession with the Vivienne Westwood orb pearl necklace started towards the end of 2021 and has been reported heavily in those months. However, with the passing of Westwood in December, the resurgence of all things Westwood related is back and stronger than ever. Whether it’s a new buy, a thrift buy, or an inspired buy, long live the orb, we say! —Dora Fung, contributing editor

The Jewelry Report: Genderfluid Jewelry Is Trending Now

Actor Timothée Chalamet (Photo: Getty Images)

A few weekends ago, we saw the fashion crowd at the Pyramids for Dior Men’s show. Whilst we all swooned over the boys and their fashion, we also noticed the bling that was sparkling on everyone from jewelry icon Lewis Hamilton to Dior’s designer Kim Jones. Inspired by the necklaces we saw, we noticed that TikTok, the men of Instagram, and Justin Bieber ’s fun pearls validated our findings. Our boy Timothée Chalamet has also been sporting not only some great looks on the red carpet recently, but his jewelry of choice has also been pretty on point.

The recent CFDA awards in NYC brought the crème de la crème of fashion together, and though the ladies all looked stunning, let’s take a moment to appreciate the gentlemen too. Lenny Kravitz, Prabal Gurung, and stylist Carlos Nazario all looked dapper, but their diamond necklaces were the standout pour moi.

All over Instagram recently—and the talk amongst fashion people—has been about this piece of jewelry: the diamond tennis necklace from Dorsey. Not only because it is stunning and it sits perfectly just above the neckline, but also because the diamonds are lab-grown and, therefore, much easier on our wallets. Diamonds and pearls may have long been a girl’s best friend, but now the boys are here to play, and we are thrilled because sharing is caring!
