The most profitable movie in film history is cashing in at the iTunes Store with a new online comic, Paranormal Activity: The Search for Katie. The quiet, spooky little box office juggernaut held true to the all-too-often-forgotten principle that what an audience can't see is more psychologically terrifying than what's jumping out at them in plain, gory sight.

As a result, the film -- which cost less than $20,000 to make -- grossed more than $107 million in the United States alone.

Spoiler alert: The new IDW Publishing comic picks up where the movie suddenly leaves off -- with the tragic, demon-hunted heroine possessed by the entity that stalked her in the film. Katie is missing, and Dr. Johann Averys, the demonologist that Katie failed to reach in the movie, is on her trail.

Written by Scott Lobdell (X-Men, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Music Box), Paranormal Activity: The Search for Katie is IDW's first digital-exclusive comic. The company says more are on the way.
